University of Muhammadiyah Malang
Established since 1998, Department of Sociology at University of Muhammadiyah Malang has borned thousand of alumni with outstanding sociological competencies. It also consistant in educating and giving more understanding about society along with problem solving in it. Figuring out the community's character is already being an important part of competencies which can be acquired by studying sociology at Department of Sociology University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Our Vision:
Becoming an excellent and competent institution in fighting for humans liberation based on Islamic values through Sociological studies and development.
Our Missions:
1. Organizing education and teaching activities in the field of sociology in order to generate alumni with good ability in understanding, explaining and applicating theories as well as methodology to solve social problems;
2. Conducting research by implementing theories and methodologies in resolving social problems;
3. Organizing community services which are oriented to humans liberation based on Islamic values in order to lead to the empowerment for social welfare;
4. Establishing mutual colaboration teamwork either internal or among institution in order to increase each educational institution's quality, so that can be a good pilot in elevating society's welfare.
In 1998, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at University of Muhammadiyah Malang opened Department of Sociology with Industrial Sociology study focus and registered proved by the letter of decision from the General Directorate of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia with number 445/DIKTI/Kep/1998. In 2007, Sociology department reached B Accreditation based on BAN-PT (Indonesia's Higher Education Institution Accreditation Affair)'s decision with number 015/BAN-PT/Ak-X/S1/VII/2007. In 2017, Department of Sociology UMM has successfully accredited by BAN-PT as A level based on decision with number 4093/SK/x/2017.
Now, our institutional achievement become better and better since we have been granted outstanding accreditation from BAN-PT as Akreditasi Unggul based on BAN-PT's decision letter Number 10585/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/S/IX/2021. Hopefully, Department of Sociology FISIP UMM could give better education for youth generation of our nation.
